VARICOSE VEINS

Varicose veins are veins that have become enlarged and twisted. The term commonly refers to the veins on the leg,^[1] although varicose veins can occur elsewhere. Varicose veins often affect the legs. The veins there are the farthest from your heart, and gravity makes it harder for the blood to flow upward.

The condition is very common, especially in women. Around 25 percent of all adults have varicose veins. In most cases, varicose veins appear on the lower legs and typically appear swollen and raised, and have a bluish-purple or red colour. ЛЕЧЕНИЕ ВАРИКОЗА

VENAS VARICOSAS

Las varices (singular variz en España) o várices (singular várice en Hispanoamérica) son dilataciones venosas que se caracterizan por la incapacidad de establecer un retorno eficaz de la sangre al corazón (Insuficiencia venosa). Las más habituales son las de los miembros inferiores.

Se producen por una alteración de las válvulas venosas, dispositivos situados dentro de la luz de la vena en forma de un doble nido de golondrina que permite el flujo unidireccional de la sangre en dirección al retorno cardíaco y, a su vez, impide el reflujo de esta a la periferia (reflujo venoso retrógrado). Las várices se forman cuando las válvulas venosas no cierran bien, entonces la sangre comienza a acumularse en las venas, haciendo que se dilaten. Las varices se pueden encontrar en otros sitios como el esófago (várices esofágicas), región anal (hemorroides o almorranas (venas abultadas de la zona del ano que al producirse esta enfermedad se ven a simple vista desde el exterior) o en testículos (varicocele).[:fr]

Les varices sont des dilatations permanentes des veines, le plus souvent sur un membre inférieur. La varice des membres inférieurs est une dilatation des veines sous-cutanées dont le diamètre est supérieur à 3 mm. Les varices sont habituellement sinueuses. Elles sont le siège d’un reflux sanguin.

Il est important de différencier les varicosités (petites dilatations intra-dermiques de moins de 3 mm) des varices à proprement parler. Pour l’essentiel, les varices touchent les membres inférieurs. Elles peuvent être soit primaires, soit secondaires à une maladie post-phlébitique. Une varice est dite primaire, lorsqu’elle survient d’elle-même, sans facteur mécanique causal. Krampfadern (von althochdeutsch krimpfan ‚krümmen‘; fremdwortlich Varix und Varize, Plural Varizen, von lateinisch varix) sind knotig-erweiterte (oberflächliche) Venen (Blutadern). Die Krankheit beim Vorliegen von Varizen heißt in der Fachsprache Varikose oder auch Varikosis.

• Betroffen sind die oberflächlichen Venen der Beine inklusive deren Hauptstämmen, der Vena saphena magna und Vena saphena parva.
